Men's Basketball:  Phillip Hunt Appointed Head Men's Basketball Coach
Harris-Stowe State University officials have announced that Richard Fanning, Director of Athletics and the Head Coach of Men’s Basketball, has stepped aside as the Men’s Head Basketball Coach. Fanning will continue his responsibilities as the University’s Director of Athletics. MORE>>
Men's Baseball:  Five HSSU Baseball Players Receive Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Awards
Five individuals from Harris-Stowe State University’s Baseball Team qualified as 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. To receive Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have junior or senior standing. HSSU players who received the honor include Zach Buxman (Jefferson College/St. Louis, MO), Dan Healey (STLCC-Meramec/St. Louis, MO), Mike Luczak (Fontbonne Univ./Arnold, MO), Travis Parker (Ft. Zumwalt West H.S./O’Fallon, MO) and Larry Young (Cahokia H.S/Cahokia, IL). MORE>>
Men's Baseball:  HSSU Baseball Collects Many AMC Awards, Including Freshman of the Year
For the second consecutive year, the Hornets took home the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Freshman of the Year award, which was claimed by relief pitcher, Cody Ostmann (Francis Howell North H.S./St. Charles, MO) this year. Ostmann appeared in 14 games for the Hornets this season and posted a 4-7 record. He also recorded two saves and had an overall ERA of 4.43. MORE>>
Women's Softball:  Harris-Stowe Softball Players Collect Postseason Awards
The Harris-Stowe State University Softball Team had three players earn American Midwest Conference (AMC) awards for their achievements on the field. Rebecca Rhode (Eastern Arizona College/Portola, CA) received AMC First-Team All-Conference honors, and Rachel Spurgeon (Eastern Arizona College/Phoenix, AZ) and Maya Morris (Hazelwood Central H.S./St. Louis, MO) both received AMC Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. Men's Basketball:  HSSU Men's Basketball Player Hollins Named AMC Co-Freshmen of the Year
Harris-Stowe State University Men’s Basketball player Terry Hollins (Marquette H.S./Milwaukee, WI) was named American Midwest Conference (AMC) Co-Freshmen of the Year along with McKendree University’s Sean Rakers, which was voted upon by the league’s head coaches. Hollins is the first Hornet to receive this award in the history of the AMC. MORE>>
