In December 2003, Scott Hartwig was appointed Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer Team. Hartwig, a Harris-Stowe graduate, was a four-year starter for the men’s soccer team from 1996-1999. He captained the team from 1997-1999 and played in two National tournaments. His team finished the 1998 and 1999 seasons nationally ranked and won the Region V Championship both years.

Hartwig led Harris-Stowe to three American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championships in 1996 1997, and 1999. Hartwig was assistant coach of the 2000 Harris-Stowe State College men’s soccer team, reaching the NAIA National Tournament semi-finals and finishing third in the National Rankings.

He lives in St. Louis with his wife and daughter.

John Ryan - Asst. Coach

In August 2004, John Ryan was appointed assistant men’s soccer coach. Ryan was a four year teammate of head coach Scott Hartwig. Ryan, a Harris-Stowe graduate, was a four year starter on the Harris-Stowe men’s soccer team from 1996-1999. Ryan led the Hornets offensively with 76 goals in his four year career, guiding them to back to back national tournaments in 1998 and 1999. After Harris-Stowe, Ryan played professionally for the St. Louis Steamers from 2000-2003.
